3/4 of the Way Into the Season: Time to Project

Now that most teams have completed 75% of their games, what are some of the more remarkable end-of-season stats that some players are on track to finish off with?

To figure this out, take any stat (other than those that consist in averages or percentages), and multiply it by 4/3 or 1.33. Here's what you get:
  • Ichiro: currently, 183 hits; projected, 244 hits (will be mlb record 9th consecutive season with 200+ hits; he's never hit fewer than 206).
  • Albert Pujols: currently, 39 HRs; projected, 52 HRs (sixth player ever to have ten straight seasons with 30+ HRs).
  • Prince Fielder: currently, 110 RBI; projected, 147 RBI, a mark which has only been reached 50-some times in history.
  • Brian Roberts: currently, 46 2Bs; projected, 61 2Bs (which has been done only 5 times, and which is pretty close to the all-time single-season record of Earl Webb in 1931 with 67).
  • Mark Reynolds: currently, 170 SO; projected 227 SO (would be the all-time single-season record, breaking the current record, established by--drum roll--Mark Reynolds in 2008 with 202).
  • Carl Crawford & Jacoby Elisbury: currently, 54 SB; projected, 72 SB.
